Keeping You & Baby Healthy When You Are Pregnant

When you are pregnant, you need to do whatever you can to ensure your health and your unborn baby’s health. You can undergo embryo genetic testing when your pregnancy begins to ensure that everything is okay with your unborn child, and there are things you can do to keep the both of you healthy. Below are some tips to help you maintain your health when you are pregnant and help to ensure your baby is fit and strong when they are born.

Eat A Healthy Diet

You will need to ensure that you eat a healthy and nutritious diet when pregnant, packed full of vitamins and minerals. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, lots of whole grains, foods low in saturated fats, and plenty of calcium-rich foods. However, there are some foods you will want to avoid, including:

  • Soft Cheeses
  • Raw/Rare Meats
  • Unpasteurised Milk
  • Raw Eggs
  • Liver
  • Sushi

Avoid Alcohol

You will also need to avoid drinking alcohol when pregnant and while you are breastfeeding after the baby is born. Consuming alcohol while pregnant can lead to abnormalities in your baby, and it can also cause learning and behavioural problems. Alcohol can impede the baby from developing correctly in the womb, so it is something best avoided until you finish breastfeeding.

Do Not Smoke

You will also want to avoid smoking when you are pregnant, as this can cause many issues in the developing foetus and puts theirs and your health at risk. Smoking can cause miscarriage, premature birth, and SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome), so it is best to avoid it altogether.

Get Plenty Of Rest

Your body will be working much harder when you are pregnant as it has to support two people, so you will also need to ensure you get plenty of rest. You will not want to push yourself too much and get at least eight hours of sleep every night.

Keep Yourself Moving

Although you may feel tired and drained when pregnant, you will want to keep moving and ensure you still get exercise to keep you and your baby healthy. You will want to consult with your doctor and check to see how much activity you should be doing daily to help keep you both safe and well.

Keep Yourself Hydrated
